LIFE AS A BLOGGER

Last month, I was interviewed by a student to capture what my life was like as a blogger. Yes, I know, with a simple click on my About Me page, you could read all about me, however, I have decided to post my answers to the interview questions, reeling you in into my life as a blogger and the heart of why I do what I do.

1) What’s a typical day like for a blogger?

Before I leave to school in the morning, my mornings normally consists of morning tea, music, checking emails, and catching up on my social media feeds. I’m a student so my typical day consist of trying to balance school, work, blogging, running two clubs, and a local support group. Through the chaos of my busy life, I would blog during my downtime, which is normally in the evening, as well as during breaks in between classes.

2) Are you still in school? Studying what?

Yes, I am currently in my third year of University. I’m majoring in Family and Social Relations and minoring in Psychology and would like to pursue a career in Law.

 3) Do you have another job on the side?

Yes, like every other student, I’m currently working a retail job.

4) What do you enjoy most about being a travel blogger?

The most enjoyable part of being a travel blogger is definitely sharing my travel experiences with people and recapturing the essence of my trips.

5) Do you face any challenges being a travel blogger?

Most definitely. Blogging alone can be a little too demanding at times, especially when you start receiving more traffic and followers. My biggest challenge right now is trying to find time to create content for my blog and making sure I have content for my readers. I feel like there are not enough hours in a day and to add to that, I’m still in school so I normally don’t travel during the school year which makes it difficult to blog sometimes. Another challenge that I face right now is being more transparent and open. I strongly believe in having an authentic voice and keeping it real on my blog, however, there are some parts of my life I like to keep private. I know a lot of bloggers out there give it their all into the blogging world but I am just not there yet.

6) What made you want to be a travel blogger?

Let me begin by telling you that I was completely hesitant at first to be a travel blogger. I never liked the idea of putting myself out there but after travelling on band trips in high school and travelling to Europe and different places with my family, I decided why not. Travelling has helped shape me into the person I am today and with that, I didn’t want to hold myself back from the opportunity to share my travel experiences.

7) When did you start blogging?

I initially started back in 2014, however, I decided to make it more public in 2015.

8) How did you come up with the name “WANDERLUST ASH”?

I wanted my blog name to encompass something that I love with a little personal touch. As I have a really strong desire to travel, I wanted to incorporate the word Wanderlust in my blog name. I didn’t want my blog name to be too complex so I kept it simple and combined Wanderlust and my nickname Ash, together.

9) What was your favorite destination that you traveled to?

My all time favourite destination thus far would definitely be Belgium!

10) What motivates you to continue to keep blogging?

Definitely the blogging community that became my online family. There are so many bloggers I have met both online and in real-life and without their positive messages, encouragement, and motivation, I would have never continued blogging.

Love,
